Blog EntryHappy Belated Birthday to MOBDec 10, '07 10:36 AM
for everyone
Did you miss me?

Good look what a weekend!!! Saturday morning, my sister and I went to breakfast and then to the Mary Kay thing where my director was receiving her car. My sister signed up while we were there so now I'm a Senior Sales Consultant. Oh yeah!!!

Anyway, then we went shopping, and mid afternoon came home, showered and got ready for the Christmas party, but first, my BIL, sister, Mike and I went to Applebee's for dinner. We had such a good time. I had to drive home because Mike was sloshed, which doesn't take him much anymore, but we had a really good time.

Then yesterday, I got up early, cleaned the house, put a pot roast in the crock pot and we headed to the Temple for Clay's consecration. This is where he is formally entered in Hebrew school and it's supposed to be a big deal, which it was. Then we ate lunch at the reception afterwards and headed home to make our Chanukah dinner.

Mike did help me with that, so it was nice just the 2 of us cooking together. Then my sister and BIL came over to eat dinner with us. It's been a full one that's for sure, but a really good weekend. I didn't get on the computer, but for a couple of minutes last night and then since 5am this morning, I've been trying to catch up. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I hope you have a splendid Monday.

Useless Fact of the Day: Before hitting it big, Comedian D.L. Hughley's first job was cleaning the lobby at McDonald's.

I want to wish MOB a belated Happy Birthday. I tried my damndest to get on here yesterday, but to no avail.  So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Blog EntryI should have just stayed in bed!!! Dec 7, '07 9:43 PM
for everyone
Hey, All.   I hope you all had a wonderful day!!!

Me?  I should have stayed in bed?

Why?

You ask such silly questions.

But I love each and every one of you.

OK.  So I go to pick up Michael and we're leaving the parking lot.  Unbeknowest to me this little Ford Escort sneaks up behind me.  REALLY!  It looked all innocent sitting there in it's parking spot.  But I KNOW, I KNOW it was just concocting its evil plan.

So I pull back into my lonely ol' parking spot and go looking for the owner.  She was Michael's afternoon teacher.  She was very nice about it.  But I tore her car UP!!!  I have a tiny dent underneath the taillight and a chip off of the bumper pad, but her bumper is cracked in two and the taillight was knocked completely out of the Escort.

Well, when I do something, I tear it up right.

Anyway, Mike wasn't too upset, but really...what can he say?  I've haven't had an accident in over 10 years (and THAT one wasn't my fault) and since I've known him, well...let's just say he's had several "boo-boos".

Anyway, after my accident, I took the kids to the Temple early so I could help the ladies cook for the Chanukah dinner tonight.  We actually had a lot of fun.  I mean, it was crowded and a lot of people showed up without RSVP'ing, so there weren't enough tables and barely enough food, but it was a lot of fun.  I actually got to talking to a couple of the other mothers and we actually have a lot in common.  Before, I thought they were just snotty, but they were shy, which is my excuse as well.

Anyway, then I dropped Savannah off at Mom's.  Mom called this afternoon and wanted to have her this weekend.  My older brother is staying there now and we talked for quite a bit.  Then home to light the candles for the 4th night and open more presents.

Tomorrow Mike is picking up my BIL to go have breakfast and my sister and I are going to breakfast and then to a Mary Kay thing.  My director is getting her car.  Then we're doing some shopping and then the 4 of us are going to our friends' Christmas party.  So.  If I dont' get a chance to say hi tomorrow, I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

for everyone
Wow!  What a productive day.  Even though the kids were home, I got quite a bit done.  I finished all the Chanukah baskets so I can give those to the Sunday School teachers tomorrow night.  I ended up dipping pretzels into melted white chocolate and then rolling them in sprinkles instead of baking cookies.  I just knew that it was going to end in aggravation..that and I'm out of butter...LOL.

I got my living room straightened up.  You can at least SEE the top of the table now.  I have to get the rest of it cleaned off before our dinner on Sunday, but I do have a couple more days right?  I also got everybody's laundry done.  I did fall asleep on the couch watching an old movie and didn't wake up until almost 4:00!  Holy crap!

After dinner tonight, we lit more candles and then opened more presents.  Tonight was the 3rd night.  The boys got pop guns tonight and Savannah got a card making kit.  She loves making cards for her friend in NY, for my Mom and her dad and sisters.  So far tonight, she's already made 3.  After the kids went to bed, I finally got all the presents we got last week wrapped and they're under the tree.  I finished the Christmas cards and most of them are going out tomorrow.  The only ones I have left are the ones that Savannah's school pictures have to go into.  She keeps forgetting her school pictures in her desk.  So, hopefully, she'll bring them home tomorrow.

Well, I'm going to get off of here and catch up with everybody else's pages and then I'm off to bed.  I hope you all have a beautiful night and an even better tomorrow.

Howdy, All.  I hope you all had a great day.  Shannon, I'm sorry about your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.  I wish there was something I could say to take the pain away, but I can't, so I'm here if you need me.

Anyway, not much going on here.  I got the chocolate chip cookies done, but I ran out of butter, so no more until tomorrow.  Mike is SUPPOSED to stop by on his way home.  I got 2 more gift baskets done.  Only 4 more to do.  I'm so excited.  Yeah, it doesn't take much.  Don't rub it in.

The kids all got to light their candles tonight.  LJ was made because I wouldn't let him hold the candle ALL by himself.  Sorry, Charlie.  Not happenin'.  Mike videotaped them, so as soon as he hooks up the camcorder, I'll download it so you all can see it.  I did manage to get a couple of snapshots.  I hope they turned out all right.  Mike doesn't turn on the screen on his camera, so I can't see the pictures I've taken.  What's the point of having a digital camera if you can't see the pictures you've taken?  Therefore, delete them.

Then we opened the presents.  Each of the kids got a slinky.  That was a HIT.  With Chanukah, the gifts start out small and gradually get bigger and usually more expensive.  For Christmas, they get 3 gifts and that's it.  Growing up, Mom was a single Mom of 3, only getting child support from my oldest brother's father and sometimes from my Dad, so it wasn't much.  Most of my childhood, she worked 2 jobs, so we only got 3 gifts a piece for Christmas and her philosophy was that Jesus only got 3 gifts what makes us better to get more than that?  Well, it was because she couldn't afford more, but how to argue with that logic?  As kids, we didn't know.  And we never argued.  Well, since our kids have Chanukah AND Christmas, they only get 3 gifts.  They don't need a whole lot and they have grandparents/godparents/aunts & uncles and our friends, they really get too much.

I'm watching "Tin Man" right now.  Still Part One.  I know I'm behind.  I'm TIVO'ing the other two.  It's weird, but I'm really liking it.  I'm not comparing it to the original, so this is pretty good.

Well, I'm going to get off of here and finish this show.  I have a feeling I'm really going to have to pay attention.  I hope you all have a great night and an even better tomorrow.

Blog Entry10 Thought TuesdayDec 4, '07 10:48 AM
for everyone
01.  Cookies.  Cookies.  What else?  Oh, yeah...more Cookies.  I've been making cookies since I got off of here this morning.  I'm now waiting for them to cool down so I can throw another batch in the oven.  Right now, all my cookie sheets are in use.

02.  So far, they've all been chocolate chip, but I have to make some sugar cookies for Chanukah.

03.  Once these cookies go into their tins, I can finish making the gift baskets and then I'll finally have my dining room table back.

04.  The dog keeps barking at the wind.  Stupid dog.

05.  My living room is TRASHED...sadly, this time, it's my doing not the kids'.  But I guess I CAN blame them and you all wouldn't know the difference now would you?  I can't though.  I'm not a liar.

06.  I hope Mike gets me a new camera for Christmas.  I really need a new one.  I got him a huge coffee cup and a Harley Only parking sign.  I guess I'll give it to him tonight.  He's coming home before his Mason's meeting so we can light the candles and open presents.  I usually ask for my gift for Christmas rather then Chanukah.

07.  The dog just fell down the steps racing to the door.  It sounded like the house was falling down.  Dumb**s.  I swear she's as graceful as the rest of us.  Poor thing.  She's all right though.  Sometimes I think her back legs are faster then her front legs.

08.  The cookies smell sooooo good.  I just ate one too.  They taste gooooooood too.  Nothing like warm, melting chocolate chips.

09.  My truck has no heat.  I'm telling you the thing is falling apart bit by bit.  Mike slipped last week about getting another one, he went and looked at newer Suburbans, and he found one he wanted, but there are other things we need right now.  But when he found out the heat went, well, let's just say, he's re-thinking getting a new camper instead of a new truck.  I'm at a toss up really.  I'd like to have both, but I doubt it's feasible.

10.  Happy Birthday, Lisa.

Blog EntryHAPPY BIRTHDAY, LISA!!!Dec 4, '07 8:19 AM
for everyone
First off, I want to start the morning off by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to LISA!!!  If you get a chance, stop by her page and wish her a GREAT day!!

Not much going on here today.  I think I'm going attempt to bake the cookies today.  Tonight is the first night of Chanukah or Hanukkah or however you want to spell it, so I have to get out the kids' gifts and dig out the menorahs.  We have decided to let each of the kids light their own.  This way there is no fighting.  This should be interesting.

For those of you who are new, we are a mixed religion household.  I'm Christian and Mike is Jewish.  It makes for some interesting debates.  But we make it work and the kids have the best of both worlds.  AND the only holiday we have to divide our time between the families is Thanksgiving.  Although, most of Mike's family lives in NY.

LJ is reading a monkey book right now.  Since Mike always calls him "Monkey Boy" (that has been his nickname for a year or so now), every time LJ sees the monkey in the story, he goes, "There's me, Mommy?"  Yes, LJ.  "That's ME!!!"  He's so happy.  Always happy.

Anyway, I'm going to get off of here and get Mike and Michael out the door.  I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!  Still windy here, but the snow is supposed to start tonight.  Hee hee.
